Founded in 1970 by Dick and Nancy Ponzi, Ponzi vineyards is considered a pioneer in its field, setting the standard for viticultural innovation and winemaking excellence in Oregon. The Ponzi family has always maintained a philosophy of building strong, healthy vineyards through sustainable agricultural practices. All 120 acres of the Ponzi owned and managed vineyards - Estate, Abetina, Madrona, Aurora and Avellana - are LIVE Certified Sustainable. In 1988, Robert Parker named Dick Ponzi as one of the finest winemakers in the world; only three other Americans were so recognized. In 1994 Dick handed over winemaking duties to his daughter Luisa, though the two still work closely together. Luisa apprenticed with Christophe Roumier of Domaine Roumier in Burgundy as well as with Luca Currado of Vietti in Piedmont.
