"The Roger Perrin Domaine was founded in its current form in 1969 when Roger Perrin took over the property from his father-in-law. Following his death in 1986, the reins were taken up by Rogeris son Luc, a graduate in Viticulture and Oenology. The Domaine covers 27 hectares in total, which is composed of 42 different parcels of vineyard in the northern part of the appellation, between the towns of Orange and Chateauneuf. The average age of the vines in the Chateauneuf sites is 60 years, providing low yields with high intensity grapes. An interesting characteristic of the vineyard is the soil composition. About 75% of the vineyard is planted in the classic Chateauneuf soil, limestone-slay covered with large round stones. The rest lies in a second type of soil, known locally as isafre, safre which is sandier and produces wines with a greater degree of aromatic and tannic finesse."
